I know about drug and alcohol addictions. I don't suffer them myself but I've had friends tell me all about it.

Alcoholism is a tough one: alcohol can be incredibly addictive. And they all say even if the person stops drinking they're still an alcoholic. I don't agree with this myself BUT when someone does have such an addiction, it isn't easy to eradicate. Often it is just suppressed.

Perhaps people with experience of alcoholism could post their thoughts and experiences on here: because so many people suffer from it or know someone who does.

No one can be "cured" for lack of a better word, but addictions can be managed. If the sufferer is willing to handle dealing with their addiction/s, then there is hope for them. But change must come from within: or - again - the addiction is simply suppressed. Plus, getting to the root problems to stress and addictions is all part of therapy.

No one has to be a victim of their own addictions.

Really I like whenever I read your comment, the way you share your thoughts, that really would have been good. You are right that if someone is addicted to drug/alcohol or any other thing then he/she have to get out of it by them self first. When he/she decide themself that they want to break free from these habits, then he/she can think of a recovery centre or a sober living home, because only if he/she is determined from his heart, then any treatment will improve them.
