Seeking help for addiction is not an easy thing. It takes courage to own up to what you did. SO it is everyone's responsibility to ease the transition for the person who is going through a tough time. Here are some things to do:

Getting over anxiety is not easy but it IS possible. However, it is an ongoing process: anxiety doesn't just vanish. It needs constant battling. Anxiety is definitely a curse though: but not running away and facing people is key to dealing with it.

Personally, I have found meditation to be the best way to reduce anxiety and depression. It works if you do regular sessions of mindfulness https
