Advice on hands appreciated!

Hi all

i'm very new to this forum and would appreciate some advice. My 2 year old's hands are absolutely terrible at the moment - cracked, sore and weeping. As hes 2 and very active, its practically impossible to get him to keep bandages on for more than about 30 minutes! Does anyone have any tips?

we use steroid, zinc bandages and emollients, and are under the care of an excellent nurse at our local NHS dermatology clinic.

Hi, have you tried a snug but not tight band of medical tape around the wrists to stop bandages being pulled off? There is hope as my children will now ask and put their own gloves, mittens or bandages on. Wet wrap mittens have a hole for the thumb which my childeren can even write with them

My son is 3 and his hand eczema is extremely bad at the moment. However, he is now happy to wear his gloves mainly (i think ) because we got some Skinnies wet wrap gloves from the doctors that come in blue rather than normal bandage colour. My son found these far more acceptable to wear as they don't look so clinical. We also named the gloves his "cool dude" gloves so that he felt good about them. He pretends he is a super hero when he wears them!
Prior to this, i used to put them on once he was asleep and hope for the best that he didn't take them off too soon.
Have you tried protopic yet? This has worked really well for my sons eczema in general and also using dead sea salt in the bath helps quite a lot. I hope this helps

I've done an interview with Dermasilk and their product looks suitable for children with very bad eczema and they have gloves too.
