When I was in my late 20s I noticed that I would have a red face whenever I washed my hair or used the hair dryer, after a bath or shower, in hot and cold weather etc. I also thought back and realised that I had those symptoms when I was a teenager too (I had acne as a teenager) but never thought anything off it. I went to the dermatologist again and she knew straight away that is was Rosacea. I was on antibiotics for 7 of the 9 month prescribed but it did not do much for my face. I am always conscious of it and my confidence has suffered greatly over the years. I am just glad that my partner doesn’t seem to see my unclear skin. 

I have had rosacea for over 10 years and, because I was diagnosed at 21, I can barely remember what my face looked like before the redness developed. I spent much of my teens ignoring my face completely: I didn’t get spots, I didn’t have oily or dry skin… it was just skin as so I paid it little attention. From the age of 18 my blushing increased in severity and frequency until I had to go to the doctors.
